One of the main streets through downtown Louisville acts as home to this set of empty façades. I saw a similar set in Panama a while back:


I guess the idea is that, in an otherwise vibrant city block, it kind of kills the walkability of the area to have gaping holes in the street elevation. It probably also helps maintain the historic characteristics of the street by keeping the old façades. But it's still kind of funny to walk by and see nothing but weeds or clouds behind the cutouts for doors and fenestration.
