Alliance

Nick brought me to Fresh & Easy - a fun way to spend a rainy Sunday, grocery shopping. It always makes me feel somehow more adult to buy fresh produce and bread, and other things that typically require at least bi-weekly purchasing.

We just missed the rain - or it missed us. When we emerged from the store (Nick with his newly minted favourite orange juice, I with several bags of goodies), the ground was wet. On the way there, we'd encountered most of the usual Hollywood Boulevard subjects: Freddy, Jason, Chucky, Rambo, Spongebob, Captain Jack Sparrow, and a few more. On the way back, then, neither of us was that taken aback to see a white van with a guy wearing a coverall mask riding shotgun. The van pulled to a stop beside us, and so of course we stopped to be looky-loos. To be walking rubberneckers.

Nick gave a mini-gasp. "That's Neil Strauss," he said, "I bet he's doing one of those myspace videos." Neil was riding in a car that followed the van, and got out to change positions with another guy who had a camera.
